The Athletic Department spread a lot of spirit for homecoming week when a group of girls worked with parents and coaches to decorate the town.

Cross Country Begins Season Strong

Gonzales Invitational

Your Lytle Pirate Cross Country team began the season this Saturday in Gonzales with a 6-mile relay for varsity and 3-mile for JV.  There were over 15 schools with 20 plus teams in each division.

We had one varsity girl, Junior Clarissa Cantu, who teamed up with Cuero to form a team.

For the varsity boys the team of seniors Edson Hernandez, Isaiah Gomez  and freshman Mark Cantu finished 3rd behind Lockhart and Austin St. Michaels.  The team of sophomore Carlos Tamayo, and seniors Joshua Gamboa and Justin Sekula finished 5th behind Tuloso Midway.

The JV girls team of sophomore Ariel Muraira, freshman Isyss Cortez, and junior Monique Covarrubias finished 9th and freshmen Naomy Montes, Raven Perez and Thalia Gonzales finished 16th.

The JV boys team of freshmen Israel Aguinaga, Kyle Mueller and JC Hernandez finished 6th and the team of  freshmen Gregorio Alcorta, David Laureano and Alex Esquivez finsished 7th.

It wasn’t a full 5K or 3200m run so it was a good start for our team.  I am very excited about our young runners and our seniors who have finally started to step up knowing this is their last chance to do something.  I was very proud of the way our kids competed and how they represented our school when they weren’t.  The team next travels to Pearsall this Saturday.  Hope to see you there.
