Last Friday your varsity tennis team traveled to San Antonio to participate in the Chili Cup Invitational. Like our JV squad the day before, we traveled with high emotions and sorrow in our hearts but we encouraged one another and kept our spirits high.

Seniors Nicholas Rouse and Christopher Lacy battled through a competitive doubles division and in the end they came home with a 2nd place finish. These boys continue to improve week by week and I am expecting big things come district time.

Senior Nataly Sanchez fought through a tough girls singles division and overcame a disappointing first round loss to win the consolation championship.

After an initial set back Mark Gomez battled back through the consolation bracket and came home as the Chili bowl consolation champion, this is his third piece of hardware that he has brought back home with him.

Much like Mark, Aminah Alqahtani fought through a first round loss and kept her spirits up and worked very hard to bring home her own consolation championship in the girls singles division.

As the season has progressed our girls JV girls doubles team of Candace Short and Laura Landeros have improved with each tournament and they finally broke through and fought hard in a tough doubles division to come home with the 2nd place medals.
